Friends of Manwood’s

Friends of Manwood’s

The Friends of Manwood’s is group of parents and carers who raise additional funds for the school, through organising fun & social events which parents and pupils can enjoy.

Recent events have included:

Year 7 cinema night
Year 8 vs staff cricket match
Fashion show
Headmaster’s quiz night
Easter chocolate tombola

These events have paid for much needed improvements for the school – whether it was new curtains for the stage in the school hall, a sound system for the Sports Hall or helping fund the school’s drama production.

If you would like to become a volunteer or part of the organising group, please contact us directly at friends@srms.kent.sch.uk or via the School Office.

School fundraising

School fundraising

The school also runs fundraising events and applies for grants.

Between 2019 and 2022 the school raised £35,000 to install energy efficient LED lighting throughout our buildings. And in 2023 we raised £74,000 to install over 250 solar panels on the roof of the Sports Hall. Together these projects saved the school over £50,000 in the last year

This fundraising was made possible by generous donations from OMs, parents, staff, governors as well as grants from local and national charities.

The Manwood Trust

The Manwood Trust

The Manwood Trust is a charity set up for ‘the advancement of education at Sir Roger Manwood's School’. The Manwood Trust runs some fundraising events as this allows donors to add Gift Aid, adding 25% to their donation.

In 2024 the Manwood Trust ran a hugely successful fundraising campaign to name the new Astroturf pitch as the ‘Firminger Field’ after former Manwood’s teacher and Kent hockey legend, Peter Firminger. The £21,000 raised, primarily from incredibly generous donations by Old Manwoodians and the Old Manwoodians Association, has helped us to refurbish the pavilion on the Farrer Field.
